We are fundamentally alone – but a few people have the knack of diminishing that isolation – of reaching out to touch us.
Thank you for being such a human being.
Thank you for your companionship.
We two – we don’t need to ask each other. We know the sort of play the other likes, which books, what music.
We know each other’s most loved flower and scent.
We know each others oddities.
And so each meeting is like coming home.
You are always there – however distant, constant as the Pole Star. Unwavering in kindness and concern – certainty in a uncertain world.
Thanks for giving and expecting respect – and for making me feel very very necessary.
You never say what other people say:
you know the words I need.
